The two incumbents and challenger running for two seats on the Lodi City Council have all raised thousands of dollars.
The Lodi Sister City Commission held its annual crab feed on March 10 at the Japanese-American Citizens League Hall. There were 180 people that attended who enjoyed a raffle, silent auction and a menu consisting of marinated crab, pasta, salad and bread. Dessert, provided by the Velvet Grill and Creamery, was Heath Bar Crunch ice cream. Wine was provided by Michael David Winery.
Bill Hinkle, president of the commission, said many people felt it was one of the best.
“I think it was our second highest turnout,” he said.

I guess we all have to realize sooner rather than later that the
weather is boss (a good Dutch word) in large ways and small. Our
summer has been cooler than usual, so tomatoes are ripening later
even while some trees are already starting to turn color. My
Chinese pistache has been sprinkling leaves all over the lawn for
the past two weeks, and a few small bulbs are showing green leaves.
Just what season is it, anyway?

The squirrels are back, and feistier than ever — unless they are
a different pair. It is hard to tell, except that this pair
challenges the cats more loudly and authoritatively than before.
Between jays and squirrels, the garden is in more of a turmoil than
it's been for a while.

I wish March would make up its mind. First we have a few really
lovely sun days (one of which was on a Sunday, literally) and
plants get moved out from winter hiding places, and then there is a
sudden very cold wind out of the west and temperatures go down into
the 30s at night. So the plants have to be moved back again.
