On June 10, the top 20 Lodi FFA members were awarded with the
chapter’s annual point awards trip. Throughout the year, Lodi FFA’s
members were awarded points for every activity they participated

After winning San Joaquin Athletic Association MVP honors in her
first two seasons as a freshman and sophomore with the Lodi High

Lodi pitcher Gabby Magana hurled a two-hit shutout and collected
three hits in support of her own cause as the Lodi Flames routed
visiting Franklin, 20-0, in a game shortened to five innings on

Brie Mendez had six strikeouts in a three-hit shutout to lead
the Lodi High softball team to an 11-0 victory over Chavez on

Brie Mendez threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and helped
her cause with two hits, including a homer, and two RBIs as the
Lodi Flames beat Lincoln 7-0 in Stockton on Friday.

It’s a whole new ball game for San Joaquin Athletic Association
Instead of shut-down pitchers dominating games and low-scoring
affairs being the norm, Lodi High head coach Michelle Guardado
expects slugfests with lots of hits this season.
That was certainly the case when Lodi opened SJAA play on
Wednesday as Tracy came to town and beat the Flames 11-7. Lodi, a
team that has struggled the past few years at the plate and relied
on the pitching of Tori Shepard to help it be a perennial playoff
contender, out-hit the Bulldogs 13-11. Lapses on defense, including
four errors, allowed the Bulldogs to score seven unearned runs.
Tracy also drew eight walks to help its cause.

Tokay High and Lodi High both split their two games playing in
the rescheduled Rivals Unite to Fight Breast Cancer tournament on
Friday in Morada. The Tigers beat Chavez 8-4 and lost 12-6 to Bear
Creek. The Flames beat Edison 6-0 and lost to St. Mary’s 6-0.

The Rivals Unite to Fight Breast Cancer Tournament, a three-day
event, was played on Thursday, but all games on Friday and Saturday
were postponed because of rain. A makeup date for the tournament,
which Tokay and Lodi High are playing in, has not been set yet.

Lodi's Ali Gibson had a game-high 22 points and added six steals
to lead the St. Mary's High girls basketball team to a 56-44
victory over Dougherty Valley of San Ramon in the semifinals of the
Northern California Championships on Saturday at Lincoln High in

For the first time in the past eight years, the Lodi High girls
softball team is missing a dominating ace pitcher.
Last season's staff ace, Tori Shepard, has taken her talents to
Pacific after four years in the Flame pitching circle. Her
predecessor, Melanie Nordhaus, was also a four-year starter who
went on to play her college softball at San Joaquin Delta
