Jerry & Friends had the pleasure of entertaining the residents of Ashley Place on a recent afternoon. In the picture are Noodles, being held by Ocie, Audrey, activity director, Vicky, and Jerry. This trio does some karaoke, a little dancing, some comedy, and sing along songs with the residents. Jerry thought of this idea on a volunteer basis the middle of October and it has gone over very well. They have performed at Vienna, Arbor Senior Apartments, Delta, Hutchins Adult Day Services, Arbor Place, Villa Marche in Stockton and Ashley Place. For Dec. they have also added The Vintage and Arbor Convalescent. The three perform for about an hour and try to get all the residents involved in some way. It's fun to see the residents keeping time with their feet, singing along to the old standards, and clapping to the music Jerry stated. Ocie recently added, Noodles, which everyone seems to enjoy. The three try to give each person a turn singing on the mic which they take out to them during the songs. It just gives you a good feeling to see these people smile and having a good time. "Sometimes they know the words better than us," Jerry said laughing. If we can leave just knowing we made someone smile that's all the payment we need.
