Steve and Carla Cole have been cooking for various organizations’ crab feeds for 36 years. Some of them have included the Lodi Police Department, Tokay High School, St. Luke’s and Pacific Gas and Electric. Saturday will mark the 11th time the two have cooked crab and all the fixings for the Lodi Boys and Girls Club. The two enjoy showing support to the club they feel offers a lot to local children.

For many Lodians, graduating from high school is the one rite of passage we all have in common. We all can remember the polyester gowns, high heels sinking into the grass at the Grape Bowl and sitting through what felt like endless speeches. The moment after turning our tassels and tossing our caps, the words of those speeches were largely forgotten. But a few nuggets of truth found their way into our memories. Speakers have inspired us. They’ve made us think.

The Lodi Mexican American Lions Club recently elected new
officers. They are Hector Galvan, president; David Sanchez, first
vice president; James Mendez, second vice president; John Flores,
third vice president; Art Gomez, secretary; Tom Gomez, treasurer;
Antonio Morales, tail twister; David Sanchez, lion tamer; Robert
Ortega, membership committee chairman; Nick Sauseda and Felix
Sauseda, first-year board of directors; and Steve Sanchez and Frank
Flores, second-year board of directors.
