Anthony Tiapon may have just graduated from high school, but his words of wisdom could have come from someone much older.

Like birds who have grown strong and are ready to leave the nest, 195 Liberty Ranch Hawks graduated as the school's first-ever class Friday, but Principal Brian Deis reminded the students they could always come back for a visit.

The Lodi Flames boys took first place in the Oak Ridge Invitational on Saturday at Willow Hill Reservoir in Folsom.

Galt High's varsity girls cross country team took fourth in the Sac-Joaquin Subsection Division I Meet in Angels Camp on Saturday to advance to sections. The top eight teams and top 10 individuals advanced to sections. The Warriors were led by Lauren Petersen, who took third overall with a time of 19 minutes, 8 seconds. She was followed by Sam Walling (21st), Alison Motor (25th), Kelsea Tiapon (32nd) and Hillary Ainsworth (65th).

The largest graduating class in Galt High history - 437 - whooped it up as they received their diplomas on a blustery night Thursday at Warriors Stadium.

Last year, the Lady Flames varsity cross country team became the first running team in school history to qualify for the CIF state cross country meet.

And on they go. Lodi High advanced its two varsity teams teams to headline local results at Saturday's SJS Subsection meet in Angels Camp. The Flames move on to Friday's Section Championships at Folsom's Willow Hills course.

Maggie Macfarlane led the Tigers with a round of 43 and Tokay stayed undefeated with a 302-332 win at Lockeford Springs on Monday.

Addie Alegre had nine digs and 20 assists to lead Lodi High's varsity volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19 victory over visiting Calaveras on Thursday night.

Taking advantage of clear skies and good conditions on Saturday at Frogtown in Angels Camp, the Lodi High varsity girls ran to a fourth-place team finish in the Division I race at the Sac-Joaquin Sub-Section meet to qualify for the section meet.
