When he was a young man, Thom Sanchez never expected to be working as a leader in a corporation. A second-generation Mexican-American, Sanchez worked in the fields when he was young in order to pay for his education. He credits his parents for instilling him with a hard work ethic and discipline.

Five Lodians have been named to the Lodi Community Hall of Fame for 2013.
Annette Murdaca recently presented a check in the amount of $56,500 to Lodi House. Murdaca recently held the annual Festa della Donna fundraiser, which raised a total of $115,000. The money was split between Lodi House and the Salvation Army's Hope Harbor shelter. Soroptimist International of Lodi and Lodi Sunrise recently held an awards night honoring outstanding women and girls. Soroptimist International is a volunteer organization of professional and business women who contribute their time and financial support to community projects benefitting women and girls. SI Lodi recently celebrated 68 years in Lodi.

On May 16, Festa Della Donna celebrated its sixth year. The event is a traditional Italian celebration honoring the role of women in all walks of life. Annette Murdaca started the tradition to celebrate women and benefit needy women in the Lodi community.

Assemblywoman Alyson Huber, D-El Dorado Hills, who recently was
re-elected to California’s 10th Assembly District, raised
$1,296,575 during the campaign filing period that ended Oct. 27.
Huber’s totals overshadowed her opponent, former Lodi mayor Jack
Sieglock, who raised $130,675 during the same period.

2010 Lodi Community Hall of Fame. When choosing a local citizen for
the Hall of Fame, judges consider the nominee's success, leadership
and dedication in such areas as education, business, health care,
