Construction continues on Hutchins Street (copy)
Fred Stadler levels wet concrete to create a smooth curb on Hutchins Street on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012. Hutchins Street remains closed between Pine Street and Lodi Avenue on Tuesday for ongoing construction that includes a new asphalt road, new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalks and pedestrian safety features. The $1 million project is expected to be completed this month.

Hutchins Street construction continues
Nurses who work at seven San Francisco Bay area hospitals operated by Sutter Health are set to walk off the job Tuesday morning as part of a one-day strike.
A spokesman for the California Nurses Association says the strike, set for 7 a.m., will affect 3,500 registered nurses and several hundred respiratory and X-ray technicians at Sutter facilities in Alameda and San Mateo counties.
The walkout is the fifth strike organized by the union since September, including a strike last month at 10 Sutter Health hospitals and Petaluma Valley Hospital.
Tuesday's strike comes as union officials and Sutter management continue to clash over sick leave, health care payments, staffing levels and other issues.
