The Delta: On the Sacramento River, trollers are working the areas of Montezuma Slough, West Bank and Sherman Island, using Yozuris and Rebels. Wayne Purdy of Lodi caught a 65-pound, 57-inch sturgeon on Monday. Jack Clemons caught and released two nice-sized sturgeon and also had limits of stripers to 13 pounds around the Light 14 area. We have other confirmed reports catching keeper-size sturgeon in Cache Slough.

Bait fishermen have been concentrating in the areas of Rio Vista Bridge to Broad Slough. Best baits for stripers are shad, sardines and mudsuckers.

San Joaquin River: The best areas for striper trollers right now are the Sounding Board, San Andreas Shoals and the Mokelumne and False rivers. Use shad, sardines, mudsuckers and jumbo minnows.

Bait fishermen are working the Sounding Board, Light 35 and 38 areas down to Eddos, using shad and sardines. Most fish are running 6-9 pounds.

Lake Amador: Bank fishermen are doing much better than boat fishermen, using Berkeley PowerBait, Berkeley Trout Worms, Mice Tails and casting Kastmasters, Rooster Tails, and Magic Bullets.

They have been stocking the lake this past week with large brood stock up to 20 pounds. There was a 12-pound rainbow caught from the bank.

Trollers are using Meps' Cyclops, Needlefish, Excel Lures, and Rocky Mountain Lures and jointed Rapalas in black and silver and orange and gold.

Lake Camanche: Trollers are working the River Channel all the way to Big Hat and Little Hat. Anglers report using Grubs, Excel Spoons, R-Lures, Needlefish, Rapalas, Mag Tackle and Rocky Mountain Spoons. Larry Rayburn of Lodi caught a 9.54-pound rainbow trout on Monday using an Excel lure in red and white and a side planer being guided by Fred Nakagawa. Together, they pulled in eight fish.

Bait fishermen from the boats are working the spillway area, Rabbit Creek, and the Narrows up to the Bridge, using Berkeley PowerBait in Garlic scent and Berkeley Mice Tails.

In the South Shore pond, best lures are Berkeley PowerBait, Mice Tails and casting Kastmasters and Magic Bullets.

New Melones: Trollers are working the main body of the lake, catching brown trout. Anglers are picking up bigger fish using brown trout-patterned Rapalas and Needlefish and Excels.

Bank fishermen are doing very well at Glory Hole Point, Angel's Cove and Tuttle Town Ramp, using Berkeley PowerBait, Berkeley Mice Tails and nightcrawlers with a marshmallow. Some anglers are casting Kastmasters, Spinners and small Crank Baits.

Ocean: Crabbing is still very good in the Monterey area.

Local fisherman Mike Faught is the owner of Fisherman's Friend in Lodi. To view the Fisherman's Friend website go to www.mrkokanee.com.
