The Delta: On the Sacramento River, striper fishing has slowed down due to the excessive rains, but there were some reports of fish being caught bait fishing Decker Island area to the Sherman Island area. Favored baits are shad, sardines and mudsuckers.

This kind of weather picks up for sturgeon fishing. Best areas would be Light No. 1 No. 2, and the Pittsburg Power Plant all the way down to the Moth Ball Fleet.

The weather determines the numbers of fish right now on the San Joaquin River. Fishermen that are out there report catching fish out of Georgiana Slough, Mokelumne and False River to Frank’s Tract.

Bait fishermen are best in the San Andreas and Santa Clara Shoals down to the Eddos area.

Lake Amador: Due to the rains this week, a few anglers reported catching trout, using Berkeley PowerBait in garlic flavor and sherbet Power Bait.

Lake Camanche: Trollers did fair working the Big Hat and the dam areas, long-lining back 150 to 200 feet behind the boat, using Berkeley Grubs in white, Berkeley PowerBait in Captain America and black and chartreuse.

The most successful anglers were fishing off the north shore and south shore ramps, using Berkeley PowerBait in Captain America and chartreuse in garlic flavor. The south shore pond is also doing very well.

New Melones: Trout are being planted weekly.

Trollers are working the main body of the lake, the dam area, and some anglers are picking bigger fish above Parrot’s Ferry Bridge, using shad-patterned lures, Needlefish, Excels and Rapalas.

Bank fishermen are catching a lot of fish near Glory Hole Point and Tuttle Town Boat Ramp area. Best baits are Berkeley PowerBait, Berkeley Mice Tails, Berkeley Trout worms and nightcrawlers.

2013 fishing licenses and vouchers are now available.
