Trout, catfish still hitting at Melones

The Delta: On the Sacramento River, salmon anglers are using Silvertrons, Scarey Lures, Blue Foxes and Kwikfish. Best areas are the mouth of Steamboat and the Old Sac all the way up to Walnut Grove. Marty Morfey caught the winning salmon in the Rio Vista Derby at 23.10 pounds. He caught it in the Walnut Grove area on a Killer Bee lure.

The salmon bite is good in all areas. Reports are that there are large schools coming up from San Francisco to the Delta.
