The Delta: On the Sacramento River, striper trollers are working the areas of the West Bank, Horseshoe and down to Collinsville. The best lures are Rebels, Bombers and Yozuris. Bait fishermen are using shad and sardines.

Salmon fishing is off the hook right now. There are daily reports from local fishermen, some actually calling in catches from their boats. Most recent reports are out of the Walnut Grove area, with fish up to 38 pounds. Almost all lures seem to be working: Silverton’s, Blue Foxes, Daigre QMS, Scarey Lures, Brad’s Cut Plugs with anchovie and bloody tuna scent.

In the San Joaquin River, Striper trollers are using Yozuris, Rebels and Bombers, catching fish up to 10.5 pounds. Bait fishermen are catching fish using shad, anchovies and sardines. Most fish are running keeper size to eight pounds.

There is also good action on the black bass. Anglers report using top water lures, such as frogs and buzzbaits, and are also using spinner baits and crank baits.

Pardee: Trout trollers are working the main part of the lake and the mouth of the river. Best lures are Needlefish, Excels, Uncle Larry’s, Rapalas and Nightcrawlers behind a Dodger. Best depths are 35-45 feet.

Bank fishermen are using Berkley Mice Tails, PowerBait and trout worms in the marina out to the main lake and down to the wood pile.

Lake Camanche: Robbie and Kim Dunham caught 12 trout and kept five last Sunday, trolling 30-40 feet down with Fire Tiger Excels. They caught all of them at the buoy line by the dam.

Catfishing is still hot from all areas of the lake, even in the pond at South Shore. Chicken livers are best to use in the shallow areas, but the catfish like grassy areas, as well. Some really nice -ized catfish have been caught, with some over 11 pounds.

New Melones: Government closed for now.

Ocean: There are great reports from all areas of the Bay. Salmon fishermen are using Tray Baits, Apexes, Brad’s Cut Plugs and Dodger/Hoochies.
