The Delta: In the Sacramento River, sturgeon fishing is tough right now, but the upcoming storms should change things around. A couple of local fisherman caught sturgeon, weighing 55 pounds, from the area of Roe and Ryer Island and a 47-pounder came in from Light 14. There were also two over-sized fish caught in Cache Slough using eel and pile worms.
Striped bass fishing is also on the slow side due to cold water temperatures. The expected rains should turn this around as well. A few keeper-sized fish have been reported on a very light bite, so watch your rods closely. Shad and sardines are the baits of choice.
