Delta: Striper trolling has been slow due to the stained water on the Sacramento River, but should soon be clearing and picking up. Most fish are coming from Decker Island down to Sherman Island. Reported lures are shallow-running P-Line Angry Eyes and Yozuris with the hottest lure being Savage Gear, Manic Prey. Fish to 20 pounds are being taken
Bait fishermen are working Rio Vista Bridge down to Broad Slough using anchovies, shad and sardines.
Fish are running from 5 to 20 pounds.
The sturgeon bite has slowed this last week, but appears to be picking up with the water clearing. The most popular locations are Cache and Prospect sloughs, into Liberty Island. Top baits are still salmon roe, shrimp baits, blood and pile worms and eel.
On the San Joaquin, striper trollers continue to work the San Andreas and Santa Clara shoals and Old and False rivers using Rebels, Yozuris, P-Line shallow divers and Savage Gear, Manic Prey.
Bait fishermen are fishing in False River using sardines and anchovies.
Black bass fishing has improved with bass appearing to be in pre-spawn condition, with many small bass grouping throughout Franks Track and the duck pond.
On the Mokelumne, trolling for stripers from Sycamore up through Hog and Beaver sloughs and from B&W down through the mouth of the Mokelumne on the San Joaquin side using shallow-running Yozuris and P-lines; other are having success with Rebels.
Camanche: They are stocking trout at both shores and the southshore pond.
Anglers continue to pull grubs and rapalas, with Speedy Shiners trolled at a higher speed producing large trout. Fish are being caught in the main body, Big Hat to the dam.
Bait fishermen off the bank are using nightcrawlers and PowerBait, with limits being the rule.
Pardee: Very successful opening weekend with many limits. Grubs, jigs and spinners were the most productive from shore. Trolling Dodgers with Spinners and Flashers with threaded nightcrawlers produced planted trout. Don’t forget trolling with Rapalas for browns.
New Melones: Spotted bass up to the 4-pound range using Carolina-rigged and drop-shotted plastics in crawdad and shad colors. Trout have dropped to the 15- to 25-foot range for trollers who pull spoons and Rapalas. Large bass tournament Saturday and Sunday will have the lake busy with boats.
Bank fishermen are catching nice trout, floating nightcrawlers, PowerBait and small minnows on a slip-bobber and casting Kastmasters and are producing limits.
