Striper bite still smacking in local rivers

The Delta: On the Sacramento River, there are still plenty of stripers in the system with fish being caught in the bay with eggs still in them. The wind has hampered anglers for several days, but as the wind reduces trolling should pick back up. Trolling 12- to 15-feet deep using deep-diving Yo-zuri’s, Angry Eye’s and Rebels producing best results. Best locations for trolling the Sacramento River side is from the Old Dairy to Walnut Grove.

With the recent smolt plants in various locations in the Delta and with the winds reducing the striper fishing should pick back up. Top-water fishing for stripers has picked up the last couple weeks with reports of 30-pound fish being caught.
