A week after taking the water with Olympians and the country's fastest swimmers at the U.S. Senior National Championships and turning in two personal-best times and one top-30 finish, Lodi's Katelyne Herrington returned to the same pool in Irvine and placed even higher.
The 2010 Tokay High graduate took fifth in the 100-meter butterfly at the U.S. Junior National Championships on Wednesday. Herrington, who is UNLV-bound this fall, posted a time of 1 minute, 1.26 seconds to record the fifth-fastest time among the best girls in America age 18 and under.
