The pop that came from the ligament tearing in his left knee was heard clear across the gym. And, in that split-second, a decision was made by Lodi High School football player Cody Edsell.

No matter what, he knew one thing. He was not missing his senior year of high school football.

@ric flair - you are way off base. Julie is not like that, and if you knew her you would be ashamed of what you wrote.

Nice article Mr. Banas. And I really appreciated the coverage of last week's games, especially the expanded JV and Freshmen articles.

Cody, you keep on doing what you do for the Flames. Your efforts are appreciated. I did not even know about the injury. This is amazing.

Cody didn't need anybody to lobby for this article; He earned it all on his own!

Cody you are the definition of a stud and I (we) are proud of what you have accomplished on and off the field. Go get em #77

I am very proud to call this young man my brother. He works so hard at everything he does and it is nice to see that his coaches acknowledge that fact. He is the toughest kid I know and tougher than most men I have met. He has played a wonderful season and I can't wait to see what he can do for the rest of it!!! GO BEEF!!!

Good Luck to LODI HIGH FOOTBALL!!! Play Hard!!

Thanks Aron, that is true, I had nothing to do with this article, did not even know they were going to do it until Cody told me on Saturday after he heard about it at Friday's game. This article was written at the request of his coach. Thank you Mr Banas for writing such a great article.
