Tokay 44, Stagg 39 Girls basketball: Tigers clinch playoff spot with victory over Delta Queens

Kylie Henne scored 17 points as the Tokay Tigers defeated the Stagg Delta Queens 44-39 and clinched a playoff berth on Thursday night in varsity girls basketball action.

Darcie Castelanelli added 10 points for Tokay (8-14, 5-3 Tri-City Athletic League), which is guaranteed one of four playoff spots in the TCAL with two games left in the regular season. The Tigers host McNair next Tuesday before finishing on the road at Edison next Thursday. Despite beating Stagg by 16 points (50-34) in the first half of league play, Tokay found the Delta Queens (6-18, 1-7 TCAL) much tougher on their home court. Tokay came out cold to open the game, scoring just five points in the first quarter as Stagg took a 14-13 lead into halftime.
