Tokay High School alumnus David Cooper headed to spring training with the Cleveland Indians

The most promising baseball player to come out of Tokay High School almost had to call it a career at age 25.

On Aug. 22, 2012, David Cooper was injured while sliding into first base for the Toronto Blue Jays. What was initially thought to be a jammed neck and back spasms resulted in persistent pain, and months of difficulty and uncertainty followed as the diagnosis remained a mystery.
