Great job to all involved in the swim championships this past weekend. My daughter really enjoyed the competition, team work and camaraderie she experienced. Thanks you to all of the coaches and I commend all of the folks who volunteered their time especially considering how hot it was. Thank you News Sentinel for covering this event. You do a great job of covering our local youth sporting events!

These kids work hard all summer and are excited to wake up to see their names in the paper. It's a shame that some of their winning events are ignored. Karlyn Bertsch and Delaney Duncan are 1st cousins, each set a record, but they also won all of their other events. Karlyn won the 11-12 Individual Medley and Freestyle, in addition to her group setting another record in the 100 yd relay. She came in second in only one event 50 yd backstroke, which she lost by .02 of a second to her cousin Delaney Duncan.

Delaney set a record on Saturday in 11-12 50 yd breaststroke, and in the finals on Sunday won all 3 individual events, breast stroke, backstroke and butterfly.

This is a talented family of swimmers! Cierra Bertsch
(Karlyn's older sister) won all 3 of her individual events
in the 13-14 age group, 50 yd freestyle, backstroke and Individial Medley; and the littlest and newest member of the clan, Delaney's little brother Caleb Duncan won 3rd place in the 5-6 year old 25 yd freestyle and 2nd place in backstroke.
