Only a lightning delay could slow down the Lodi Extreme as they thundered to a 14-0 victory in the opening game of the Babe Ruth 12-and-under World Series on Thursday night in Andalusia, Ala.
Lodi led Alabama District champion Brewton 14-0 when lightning delayed the game in the top of the fourth inning. After play resumed, Lodi starting pitcher Alyssa Casillas struck out the side in the bottom of the frame and the game ended around midnight due to the 10-run mercy rule.
