Cody Vaz aced his first test, and showed that 10th-ranked Oregon State may be in good hands, after all.
Thrust into his career first start after a knee injury to Sean Mannion, the Beavers' redshirt junior from Lodi threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns to key a 42-24 victory at BYU. The Cougars' stifling defense came in allowing under 10 points per game, led by standout linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who also has Lodi ties.
