The Tokay Tigers varsity boys basketball team’s bid for a stunning upset Thursday came to a screeching halt with six minutes to play.

The Tigers took on the St. Mary’s Panthers of Albany, California, in the first round of the Bruin Shootout at Bear Creek High. They trimmed a 20-point deficit to four in the fourth quarter before the Panthers pulled away for a 57-43 victory.
