The Lodi Flames varsity softball team nearly blew an early 4-0 lead in their playoff opener. Instead, the Flames blew the game open. Holding a late one-run lead, Lodi erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning and went on to defeat the Franklin Wildcats of Elk Grove 11-3 in a Sac-Joaquin Section Division I outbracket game on Tuesday at the Lodi Softball Complex.

The visiting Wildcats had scored three times in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 4-3, but Lodi responded with eight hits while breaking the game open in the bottom of the frame.
