I have to agree...the word hero has become an over functioned term used to describe everything from sports to politics. I get a bit aggrivated about it but then I think about why it is used and in what manner the lable is applied (and accepted by the recipient). As long as it is applied as a good thing I am okay with it...we need some good things right now...like the Eagle Scout from the Oct 4th edition.

Pat... good to see you again! I coached baseball and basketball for over 13 years and understand the thrill and excitement for sure. Memories of a lifetime.
Wasn't trying to throw cold water of the fun.. sorry about that. I was just reacting to the term hero. For me, sports is good old fashion excitement and fun. Never thought of a sports figure as a hero...

Darrell: Nationals...National... Two pitches! DAMN! I watched and was thrilled with his performance...give him his due! Couldn't have done much better...maybe one pitch and a triple play?

I thought this was a baseball game.. National hero? Hummm ..dont get it.
I would think Jackie Evancho would be more a national hero in spreading love.
