The sun still shines at midnight. Moose sightings are endless. Hunting, fishing and ATV riding are the recreational activities of choice. For Lodi’s Gio Brusa, the 6,000-person town of Palmer, Alaska, has taken some getting used to this summer.

“It’s definitely different,” said Brusa, an incoming sophomore outfielder at the University of the Pacific. “But this is exactly what I wanted.”
