Underdog Cubs finish as top dogs at the Cal Ripken Majors 11-12 Championship

Trevor Shuman hit a three-run home run and Aniseto “Spider” Vasquez pitched four scoreless innings to help the Tin Grins Cubs complete an improbable playoff run with a 7-4 victory over the Diede Construction Astros in the Majors 11-12 championship game on Monday night at Salas Park.

The Cubs entered the postseason with a losing record and the fifth seed, but when all was said and done they were flinging their gloves into the air and celebrating at the pitcher’s mound after the final out.
