Eliot Christian High's baseball team put up a good fight to keep its season alive, but in the end Valley Christian of Roseville broke out the big weapon and advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII championship game.

The Eagles won the second game of their best-of-3 semifinal series 6-3 on Monday evening at Galt Community Park to force a third and decisive game. With the season on the line, Valley sent Game 1 winner Ryan Cordell back to the mound and he delivered again, tossing a two-hitter in Lions' 11-1 victory that denied the Eagles a trip to the section final.
