Lodi’s varsity wrestling team was reminded Tuesday night what it is like to win a close one. The Flames had won six straight duals going into its San Joaquin Athletic Association finale against the Lincoln Trojans, a 35-30 victory. No one had stayed within 20 points of Lodi since Dec. 11 against West and its only loss was the week before at Tokay.

The Trojans earned wins against some of the Flames top wrestlers, forcing Lodi to play it conservative in the second to last match. Hector Soto, Lodi’s heavyweight, had to avoid being pinned by Anthony Villalobos as the Flames clung to a 35-25 lead.
