It took a furious finish by Lodi’s senior leader and freshman sensation for the Flames to escape Thursday’s varsity girls basketball game. Senior forward Cassidie Head and freshman Monica Valenzuela helped lift Lodi to a 45-39 victory over West in the first round of the Lodi Christmas Tournament. They combined for 15 of their team’s final 19 points in the last 6 minutes, 17 seconds

In that final push, Head had seven of her nine points on the night to go with eight rebounds. Valenzuela had all eight of her points in that span to go with five rebounds and four steals.
