A win in the Flames' regular-season finale wasn't enough and the Grape Bowl debut will have to wait. Making its first trip to the postseason since 2005, the Lodi football team (7-3) was dealt the No. 12 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I bracket and will play on the road against No. 5 Turlock (8-2) on Friday.

The Lodi hopeful were optimistic a 48-7 win over Chavez on Friday would help Lodi's chances of earning a first-round playoff game. Turns out it wasn't and Lodi is one of five 7-3 teams that will open the postseason on the road.

Goin' to Turlock, no need to ask Sherlock. Haven't been since '05 way to keep the season alive. We are the lower seed, but a chance to win indeed. We'll show them what we got, strutting in from the parking lot. It's time for the stars to shine, from the newspaper now primetime. No excuses is their theme, good solid football reins supreme. A whole season to prepare, now no time to spare. The fans need to be loud, cowbells in hand and proud. Go big red machine! This brand of football, Turlock's never seen!

Congratulations Flames. What a great year and what a great testimony to overcoming adversity. You are Champions in our hearts.

The seeding actually works out very well for the Flames, even though they will not get a home game. We have one common opponent - Franklin of Stockton - with Turlock. We destroyed Franklin (If I remember correctly, Dillon pulled the starters late in the 3rd qtr) and Turlock beat them 28-7. I like our chances in this game.

I hope the Lodi fans and especially the students can make the trek to Turlock to support our team. They deserve all our support this year. Bring the cowbells and make this the loudest crowd we have ever had. GO FLAMES!!!!!!
