It didn't take long for the Tigers to find out why McNair is in first place in the Tri-City Athletic League boys basketball standings. The Eagles jumped on Tokay early, racing out to a 21-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and went on to beat the Tigers 56-38 in Stockton.

Tokay head coach Steve Kayson was back on the sideline for the Tigers, four days out of jaw surgery as part of his treatment to combat the lymphatic cancer he has been battling for 20 years. After missing Wednesday's win over Edison, Kayson returned to coaching, but was unable to speak very much. He relied on his assistants, Gabe DaRosa and Bobby Hernandez, to vocally lead the Tigers against McNair (15-5, 4-0 TCAL).
