West High had one more miracle in its pocket, but the Wolf Pack had to dig deeper than ever to find it Friday night at Peter B. Kyne Field. Trailing by five with less than 2 minutes to play and with the goal line 28 yards away, senior fullback Ian Lloyd took a handoff from Sana Sausau, sprinted up the middle and broke tackle after tackle, finally shedding a final Pitman defender at the 10 and strolling into the end zone.
The touchdown gave West a breathtaking 27-22 victory over Pitman in the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs, and set up a rematch with St. Mary's, which beat Lodi 28-21 in overtime, in next week's semifinals.
