After a year's absence, the Flame Invitational returned to Lodi Lake on Wednesday with 670 runners competing in the Lodi High race that kicked off the Flames' season.

Construction blocked off access to Lodi Lake last year, but the event came back strong this year. Close to 240 runners completed the varsity boys race alone. Lodi High head coach Jeff Tillett was pleased with the race's turnout in its comeback year. He was also happy with his team's races despite having to run them on a hot and humid afternoon.
