Lodi hot rod earns two awards

1935 Ford Slantback gets a makeover by owner, mechanic

The six years Ron Schnabel spent restoring his 1935 Ford Slantback paid off last weekend. Schnabel, a retired foreman maintenance mechanic at Alpine Meat packing, took his car to the Sacramento Autorama and won first place in the Radical Custom Street Rod Sedan category.

It also took the Butch Gardner Memorial Award for best hotrod built, fabricated and painted entirely by its owner.
