Local athletes' achievements extend beyond sports

Athletes are often recognized for their achievements in the sports they play. What isn't often considered are their off-the-field accomplishments in the classroom and their other extracurricular activities.

On Tuesday, Tokay High's Holly Rankin and Seth Siddle-Mitchell, as well as Elliot Christian's Megan Crutchfield and Paul Goossens, were four of 50 of the Sac-Joaquin Section's top student-athletes honored with Dale Lacky Scholarships at a breakfast awards ceremony at Elkhorn Country Club in Stockton.
