Jim Wilson wasn’t sure if he was going to wrestle this season. All but one of his opponents at the California Interscholastic Federation State Wrestling Championships wish he hadn’t.

The Lodi resident, competing for Stockton’s McNair High School at 160 pounds, earned a third-place medal Saturday at Rabobank Arena to better his fourth-place showing from each of the last two seasons. He battled back from a broken leg this season just to get back on the mat, and Saturday’s medal was a sweet affirmation that he made the right choice.
