The Tokay Tigers boys basketball team’s game on Wednesday featured some international flavor — and ended with a dominant win on the hardwood. Taking on the Melbourne Academy of Australia in the McDonald’s Classic at Chavez High School, the Tigers breezed to a 46-22 victory over the visitors from down under.
Tokay showed intensity and defensive hustle in the first half, which saw Brett Rivers collect eight of his team-high 11 rebounds. The Tigers held Melbourne to just two first-quarter points, and raced out to a 22-6 lead at the break. Their advantage grew to 38-14 heading into the final period.
