Jonathon Perez broke through to state. Jannell Hadnot assured herself a return trip. And both local track and field standouts earned their tickets the same way on Thursday — by delivering brilliant triple jump performances at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championships.
A four-sport athlete at Galt High School, Perez qualified for the first time in his career, finishing third with a personal-best — and school-record — leap of 46 feet, 8.5 inches.
