Lodi Extreme 12U defeats last year's champs

The Lodi Extreme 12U softball team not only rebounded from Friday's opening-day loss in the Babe Ruth World Series in Wilson County, N.C., the team showed its a viable contender for the title over the weekend.

In one of two weekend victories, Lodi defeated the 2008 defending World Series champion Hamilton Hurricanes 7-3 on Sunday. Lodi's Karly Krueg was named the player of the game after pitching the win and going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored, an RBI and a triple. Hamilton (New Jersey) was undefeated entering the contest.
