San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation will begin planting 5,000 pounds of catfish during the fishing season at Oak Grove Regional Park.

The first plant will coincide with the 27th Annual Catfish Derby, set for Saturday, June 4 at Oak Grove. Nearly 3,000 pounds of catfish will be planted prior to the derby. The event is open to everyone and free to kids 15 years and under. A $5 fishing permit fee and valid fishing license are required for those 16 years or older. A $5 vehicle-parking fee will also apply.
