She got her first horse at age two, started riding at five and now practices up to six hours a day, but Cheyanne Carpenter of Clements still gets antsy when competing in major rodeo events.

“It’s a huge adrenaline rush,” the Lodi High senior said. “Anything bigger than my backyard makes me nervous.”
