Heading into the last event of Thursday's Tri-City Athletic League track and field meet, the Tokay varsity girls squad was trailing West 107-106.

Tokay junior Haley Kroll had already won three individual events, repeating as the TCAL distance champion in the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, but was called upon to anchor the Tigers' 4X400 relay team. The squad, made up of Catalina Calderon, Carson Kautz, Tatiana Stevenson and Kroll, needed to not only beat out West in the relay, but keep third-place St. Mary's from surging past them as well.
