Well, we all knew this was coming. Mike Singletary needed to be fired as the San Francisco 49ers' head coach. Even though he has two years remaining on his contract, a change needed to be made.

Although what I'm about to say isn't popular, I feel it needs to be said. Singletary will make a strong head coach some day. He was promoted too quickly and needs to serve as a defensive coordinator first. Prior to serving as a head coach, Singletary was a linebackers' coach. He completely bypassed the coordinator position. His passion for the game clouds his judgment, but I still believe in his abilities. I wish it could've worked between him and San Francisco. With that being said, the team needs to look forward and let this year's disappointment fade away.
