The Pirates used a big fourth inning to break open a close game and held on to defeat the Marlins 9-6 in the Cal Ripken Farm 10-year-old championship game on Thursday night at Salas Park.

The Marlins had scored a run in the top of the fourth to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the Pirates (13-3) responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame and two more in the fifth to take a commanding 9-2 lead. That was enough to hold off a late rally by the Marlins, who scored four in the sixth to make it a close game.
