The Elliot Eagles varsity football team was looking to polish its game and finally put a ‘1’ in the win column. They accomplished both on Saturday night — albeit in a strange way.

The Eagles’ non-league tilt against the North Tahoe Lakers ended up as a controlled scrimmage between the two teams at Stockton’s Lincoln High School, after the visiting Lakers (2-2) forfeited due to lack of players. North Tahoe, with just 19 players on its MaxPreps.com roster, ended up having only 11 healthy and suited up by game time.
