He was 5 years old when he raced on his first motorcycle. At age 17, Mikey Martin made his professional racing debut. On Saturday, less than two months after turning 18, the Acampo native won his first pro singles victory by winning the Grand National Championship Motocycle-Superstore.com Pro Singles main event in Hagerstown, Md.

Martin, a member of Iowa-based Weirbach Racing, is in his second season racing on the American Motorcyclist Association GNC series. On Saturday, he fell behind at the start, but claimed the lead riding on his Honda CRF450R on the eighth lap of the 16-lap race and never looked back.
