For the first four innings, the Tokay Tigers varsity softball team hung tough with the first-place St. Mary’s Rams. Then the Rams exploded for nine late runs to mercy-rule the Tigers, 10-0, in six innings at Arnaiz Stadium in Morada on Wednesday.
Tokay (11-8-1, 3-2 Tri-City Athletic League) is in third place in the league standings, trailing second-place West and league leader St. Mary’s (14-5, 6-0 TCAL). The Tigers play both teams next week, starting with a makeup of a previously rained out game on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against the Rams, also at Arnaiz Stadium.
