Hobbled and hurting, the Lodi Flames varsity football team battled to the end. With nine starters sidelined and numerous other players fighting through injures, the Flames hung with Lincoln for three quarters before the Trojans pulled away for a 41-21 victory at the Grape Bowl in Lodi on Friday.

The Trojans earned a playoff berth with the victory, just their fourth of the season after going winless in the preseason. However, they finished second behind Tracy in the San Joaquin Athletic Association with a 4-1 mark.
