It was not the kind of result Central Valley head football coach Louis Byrd wanted from his Rams in thier debut as Lodi's new semi-pro football team at the Grape Bowl against the visiting Central Coast Barnstormers.

Barnstormers quarterback Bryan Smith passed for five touchdowns and ran for another score as Central Coast knocked off Central Valley 43-29 in the Northern California Football League non-conference opener for both teams in front of an estimated 250 fans on Saturday night.

It was indeed a poor performance, on all our parts. I am a player of the team. Steven Geller #77. There were alot of kinks to work out, and I think weve done just that. We owe you a show Lodi, and plan do deliver it to you March 28th @ the Lodi Grape Bowl against the Marin Bulldogs. Be ready Lodi, Pass on a good word for the Rams, and help us fill these seats. See you at the game...

The game was a lot of fun. It's too bad that the LNS doesn't write more stories on the team. Talking with coaches and league officials this sounds like a great venture. I hope that the team and league can do a little more advertising, it was a great family friendly atmosphere!!!
