The stands at Lodi High’s Inferno were packed with fans ready to see a rivalry. What they got was a defensive showdown as the Lodi boys basketball team rebounded and fought its way to a 43-36 non-league victory over cross-town rival Tokay on Friday night.

While both teams struggled making shots, the Flames (10-5) attacked the boards with fury, especially on the offensive side of the court. Lodi posts Justus Panzarello, who stands at 6-foot-3, and 6-foot-5 Brandon Michelucci, dominated the game and towered over the Tigers (6-11). Panzarello scored 17 points and pulled down 17 rebounds, while Michelucci recorded 14 points and nine boards.
